Covid-19: we are setting up to provide effective resources for community groups for this crisis and beyond. Given the recent nature of this crisis we are a brand new organisation pursuing CIO status.
Help Close By is an app that helps vulnerable and self-isolating people get fast, local help for the things they need, as well as supporting our key workers in times of crisis. We work to help coordinate volunteers and organisations doing everything from collecting food and medicine, to dog walking and facilitating video calls with loved ones. We make sure no one is forgotten, even if they don’t have access to the internet.
We are currently preparing to launch in Birmingham (UK). After this the we’ll roll out the app in other locations. Please sign up below and we’ll notify you when our app becomes available near you. Are you an organisation that helps people via a call centre? We are also building a second version of our app specifically for organisations like yours. Please let us know if you'd like us to contact you directly, in addition to receiving our launch email.

Status: Pre-Launch We are currently pre-launch. We have a Beta test working really well. We are currently refining features and putting vital safe guarding measures in place before we launch. We are also engaging with a wide number of organisations that we wish to support. By giving them the technology to deal efficiently and effectively with a high volume of requests, our aim to to make sure no one will be fall through the gaps. The app will be available in English and key languages spoken by communities in the areas we serve. We will be launching the Help Close By app very soon in Birmingham. During our first phase we’ll be signing up volunteer groups and volunteers to make sure sure there is a solid pool of volunteers ready to help. In the second phase, we’ll release the app to those who need support. We will then expand our reach further afield. Before launching in a particular city or region, we’ll start by building strong links with the local community. Our mission is to support, not replace, the amazing work currently carried out by local mutual aid groups, charities and communities. In addition to our app, we are also building an app specifically for organisations that use call centres. This will mean that people without internet access can receive help. We would like to encourage proactive outbound calls to those who may have needs a well as taking inbound calls. We'd like to support community hotlines where ever possible.
